Fund-raising against a mayoral candidate with unlimited resources is a daunting task, but at least it provides an easy pitch to contributors.
Bill Thompson's mayoral campaign sent an email to supporters this morning saying contributing even as little as $25 "means committing to a mayor's race not dictated by personal bank accounts, but by the grassroots support of New Yorkers in every borough."
From the fund-raising email:
Sunday is the first in a series of fundraising deadlines for our campaign -- and we need your help.

Contributing to our campaign means more than making a financial commitment -- it means becoming part of a team ready and willing to change our city.
It also means committing to a mayor's race not dictated by personal bank accounts, but by the grassroots support of New Yorkers in every borough.
The election may still be months away, but it's the early planning and organizing that we do right now that will make the biggest impact on the mayor's race.
