A major city Republican operative I spoke to earlier speculated that probably the best candidate to take over the State Republican Party is John Faso, the 2006 gubernatorial candidate, who also ran for state comptroller in 2002, and was the Assembly Republican Leader for years before that.
But appearing on Talk1300 with Fred Dicker this morning, Faso signaled he' doesn't want the job (although his phrasing was hardly Shermanesque.)
“Um, Fred, I never speculate on hypothetical things, but I’m not interested in the position, as we are talking this morning,” Faso said.
