Padavan's Lead Up to 707 Votes
By Azi PaybarahAs of 4 p.m., Republican Frank Padavan lead over Democratic challenger Jim Gennaro has grown to 707 votes, according to a reader in Queens participating in the recount and supporting Padavan.
This reader also said Republican State Senator George Maziarz of Niagara County is in Queens helping Padavan supporters with the recount.
At one point, Gennaro had narrowed the gap to 500 votes, but that trend seems to be reversing.

i AM THRILLED TO SEE THAT A MAN WHO HAS DEVOTED HIS ENTIRE LIFE TO THE CITIZENS OF QUEENS IS LIKELY TO BE SENT BACK TO ALBANY TO SERVE HIS COMMUNITY ONCE AGAIN..HE IS A GENTLEMAN ...HE CERTAINLY DESERVES RE-ELECTION

I do not know much about Mr. Gennaro but I know Senator Padavan for past 12 years. I am not a Republican. Had Mr. Gennaro spent a little time to know senator Padavan before deciding to run against him he would have decided not to run. If he is person who believed in honorable campaign (as he should be as the president elect Obama and the state Governor Paterson are) he would have at least avoided the nasty negative campaign tactics.
Senator Padavan, who is a highly educated engineer and MBA, who held senior positions in the armed forces, who has been a down to earth Senator of State for thirty six years, who is loved by more democrats than republicans in Dist 11, did not deserve to be abused by the kind of negative propaganda Mr Gennaro unleashed.
Personal integrity and ‘gentleman-ship’ are rare qualities to find in the present world. I spoke to hundreds of voters at polling stations and only could hear from most of them "HE IS MY MAN". Not one, even the very few who said they have party loyalty, spoke very high of Padavan. Not one spoke in the lines of the propaganda made by Gennaro compaign. I wish Senator Padavan, comes out victorious and Mr Genaro concede and become Padavan’s admirer. Padavan is a symbol of decency, integrity and dedication in politics. Let such people represent us.

I called on Senator Padavan's office for help years ago when I use to be a DEMOCRAT. No one asked me what party I belonged to but generously helped me avoid eviction with my child. YES, I WAS A DEMOCRAT, BORN TO A REPUBLICAN FAMILY...BUT Senator Frank Padavan supercedes party, HE DOES WHAT IS IN THE BEST INTERESTS OF HIS STATE AND ALL OTHER POLITICIANS SHOULD LEARN FROM HIM!!
Thanks Senator Padavan...You are the one Politician of whom I am not ashamed. His opponent apparently is a BULLY...STANDARD political crap!
