Math Blaster Plus, the Paterson Edition

ALBANY—The governor's office just announced they've launched a new Web site to "lead the public in a discussion about how to control unsustainable growth in the size of New York's budget."

Poking around, I stumbled upon the budget-balancing calculator, which showed us that if we completely eliminated all line spending for children and family services, local government assistance, higher education, public health and transportation, the state would still have a deficit of about $4 billion.

Governor Paterson—whose own proposals are listed on the site—wants people to make their own budget proposals. Those of you looking for some quick Friday diversion, have at it. Or just continue using the other state-sponsored Web game.
