ALBANY - It's official - Hillary Clinton has been nominated as secretary of state.
Here's what Senator Chuck Schumer had to say about it:
First and foremost, Hillary has been a superb public servant for the people of New York, a terrific partner to work with in the Senate, and a great friend. We will miss her voice, intellect and strength, but I know New Yorkers are excited and proud that she is devoting her enormous talents to a job which demands the best at this point in our history. America -- and the world -- needs a Secretary of State with the unique experience, intelligence, and the roll-up-your-sleeves and get-the-job-done attitude that Hillary possesses. I am certain she will do a great job for America as Secretary of State, and I expect her to be confirmed easily with overwhelming support.
Schumer will have to serve with whoever is appointed by Governor David Paterson to replace Hillary, but has so far been mum, at least publicly, on who he might want to replace her.
