Yassky Falls in With the Bloomberg Proposal

Yassky.

After his amendment -- a proposal for the creation of a charter revision commission to arrange a referendum on term limits -- was shot down, David Yassky, a previously undecided City Council member from Brooklyn who is a good-government type, said he will support the bill extending term limits.

"We can leave in place a bad term limits policy," or change it, he said. "At the end of the day, I base my vote on the merits of the bill before us." He said extending term limits is "greatly superior" to leaving it in place.

Yassky was considered to be a swing vote, since it was he proposed an amendment to put this issue before voters.

After he spoke Tish James began her remarks by saying, "I have to stand after that."
